6 week course , 2 ½ hours/week. Up to 8 students in each class. Adults 18+

This class is for wheelthrowers who are hoping to push past a plateau or bring their throwing to the next level.

Participating students should arrive already confident in their centring, opening and lifting skills as these will not be covered in detail. Experience level should include completion of at least two six week wheel throwing sessions at our studio or a similar program. Alternatively, students who have spent considerable time on independent studio practice may enrol without the prerequisite classes.

Topics covered include lidded forms, dramatic shaping, larger scale objects, combined forms, and altered forms. Students are also invited to express their own ambitions and project ideas.

In this class students will learn strategies for scaling up their throwing practice. We will cover how to make a bowl not by accident, but on purpose.  Various techniques will be demonstrated to throw bowls of purposeful sizes and shapes.

As this is an intermediate level class, students with limited experience or who have not mastered centring clay are asked to enroll in a beginner class instead.

We provide: all the things you’ll need to make the thing: clay, tools, glazes and the kilns to fire your work, along with an expert teacher who will be by your side to help you create something amazing.

 This class includes:

  • Your own 11lb bag of clay
  • Use of student studio tools
  • A space to keep your work
  • Glazing and firing any work you wish to keep is included
  • Daily access to the student classroom for you to drop-in and practice!
  • Student Classroom is available to any student who is currently enrolled in an active class, once your class has begun.
