6-week course, 2 ½ hours/week. Up to 8 students in each class. Adults 18+

This class is appropriate for first time wheel students and students who have taken one or two classes previously. Beginners will learn the basics of throwing clay on a pottery wheel: how to handle and center clay on the wheel, practice creating cylinders to shape bowls and cups and how to trim and prep work for firing. Potters with more experience in wheel throwing will be guided through advancing their techniques. Each student will be met at their own level.

We provide: all the things you’ll need to make the thing: clay, tools, glazes and the kilns to fire your work, along with an expert teacher who will be by your side to help you create something amazing.

This class includes:

  • Your own 11lb bag of clay (plus option to purchase one additional half bag for $22 if needed)
  • Use of student studio tools
  • A space to keep your work
  • Glazing and firing any work you wish to keep is included
  • Daily access to the student classroom for you to drop-in and practice!
  • Student Classroom is available to any student who is currently enrolled in an active class, once your class has begun. Practice hours are from 10am - 5:30pm, 7 days a week except when a class is in session, or an event is booked. Please check the weekly schedule posted outside the classroom to be sure the classroom studio is available for practice before coming in. :)

You’ll need to prepare by:

  • Wearing comfortable clothing and shoes which you don’t mind getting dirty
  • Please wear closed toe shoes
  • Bring an apron to preserve your clothes, if you can. (We do sell aprons if you need one)
  • Please leave jewelry and watches at home
  • Please tie your hair back and up if you can
  • Pro tip: shorter fingernails are really helpful
  • Our classs are held upstairs. If you are unable to climb stairs, please email us ahead of time so we can make other arrangements for the class location.
